Kingsway Releases Music Of Jesus Culture For First Time

11 May

Nashville, TN) May 10, 2010Kingsway has entered into an exclusive, long-term recorded music, marketing and distribution agreement with Jesus Culture, a youth and young adult movement that began at Bethel Church in Redding, CA in 1999 and whose songs have since traversed the globe.  Selling hundreds of thousands of recordings spanning seven full-length albums and CD/DVD combinations to primarily an international audience through online outlets and at events, Kingsway will for the first time bring Jesus Culture Music to physical retail throughout the USA into both Christian and general market stores with distribution by EMI CMG.

With over 150,000 units sold on iTunes alone, Jesus Culture’s online reach is poised to be expanded by Kingsway as it offers all catalog products to physical retailers beginning July 13, 2010.  A brand new live CD/DVD is also being recorded now at Jesus Culture events in Las Vegas, Belfast, Berlin, London and other cities across the USA and Europe and is scheduled to release through Kingsway in November.  Other upcoming albums include Heather Clark’s Overcome, which releases in July, and the My Passion EP releasing June 1.

Featuring worship leaders Chris Quilala, who recently appeared on The 700 Club, and Kim Walker-Smith, who was named this year by Charisma magazine as one of 21 “Emerging Leaders of Tomorrow’s Church,” as well as solo artists Jake Hamilton, Kristene Mueller and Heather Clark, Jesus Culture Music exists to ignite revival in the nations of the earth, compelling the Body of Christ to radically abandon itself to a lifestyle of worship, motivated by a passion to see God receive the glory that is due His name.

“We long for Jesus to be exalted in the nations and for His manifest presence to invade this world. Although we aspire for people to sing great worship songs, we are primarily committed to see them come into His presence through worship…to encounter His extravagant love and raw power,” says Banning Liebscher, Jesus Culture Director.  “We are excited about our new relationship with Kingsway and its likeminded mission.”

Steve Nicolle, Director of Kingsway in North America, says, “Kingsway is grateful to come alongside Jesus Culture extending its reach and ministry through our marketing and retail strengths, and we are thankful to include Jesus Culture’s compelling and excellent music to our expanding worship music repertoire being heard around the world.”

Jesus Culture recordings that will be released July 13 through Kingsway follow:

2009 Consumed (Chris Quilala, Kim Walker-Smith, Melissa Wise-How)

2009 Marked By Heaven (Jake Hamilton)

2008 Those Who Dream (Kristene Muller)

2008 Your Love Never Fails (Chris Quilala, Kim Walker, Melissa Wise-How)

2008 Here Is My Song (Kim Walker)

2007 We Cry Out (Chris Quilala, Kim Walker, Melissa Wise-How)

2006 Everything (Chris Quilala, Kim Walker, Melissa Wise-How)

In addition to its recordings, Jesus Culture holds conferences led by Liebscher and its team of worshippers travelling across the USA and beyond.  Upcoming conferences will be held in Cleveland May 21-22, Dallas June 9-11, Atlanta July 14-16 and its hometown of Redding July 28-30 before travelling to multiple cities throughout Australia and England.

Jesus Culture Music history:

In the summer of 1999, the youth group led by Banning Liebscher at Bethel Church in Redding, CA launched the first Jesus Culture conference. The heart of these gatherings was to serve other churches and lead young people to experience the radical love of God. After each conference the youth and young adults were going back to their homes, schools, work places and churches, completely transformed and impassioned from the experience.

With worship becoming a significant part of the movement, worship leaders from the local youth group, including Kim Walker-Smith, Chris Quilala, and Melissa How, began leading a generation of young people into whole-hearted worship.

“A few years into hosting conferences at Redding, the Lord began to speak to us about a new breed of revivalists that were emerging throughout the earth to answer the cry of God’s yearning for nations. Our mandate was defined: to raise up, mobilize, equip, encourage, resource, and send these burning ones to fulfil the call of God on their lives, and see entire cities saved, campuses revolutionized, and nations discipled,” explains Liebscher.

“Shortly after God commissioned us to mobilize this new breed of revivalists, we began taking Jesus Culture conferences to different regions,” continues Liebscher.  “In response to our mandate, Jesus Culture Music and Campus Awakening have been inspired and birthed out of Jesus Culture.”

Stone Sour reveal new album title and tour

10 May

Los Angeles, CA (May 10, 2010) - Three-time Grammy nominees STONE SOUR have revealed that Audio Secrecy will be the title of their highly anticipated new album, which is slated for release later this summer. The band and producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush) are currently holed away at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN, where they’re putting finishing touches on the much-buzzed-about record.

Audio Secrecy is the summation of everything we want, everything we crave and everything we fight for,” says lead singer Corey Taylor. “The dimensions go further than anything we’ve ever tried before. It’s metal, rock, slow, soft, hard, fast, bitter, beautiful and most importantly, it’s REAL. You can’t get an album like this out of a band that doesn’t exist. We’re throwing caution out the damn window.”

The band (vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarists James Root and Josh Rand, bassist Shawn Economaki and drummer Roy Mayorga) will be previewing select songs from Audio Secrecy during their performances on this summer¹s Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. The 36-date tour launches August 17 in Minneapolis, MN and will visit arenas and amphitheatres across North America before wrapping October 4 in Madison, WI.  Tickets for Uproar go on sale Saturday, May 15 in select markets and are available via www.RockstarUproar.com  and www.livenation.com .

Audio Secrecy is the follow-up to the gold-certified Come What(ever) May, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and spawned three radio hits: “Sillyworld,” “Made of Scars,” and the No. 1 smash hit single “Through Glass.” Revolver magazine gave the disc four stars and praised the quintet for “demonstrating a dynamic range equaled by few of their peers.” Billboard hailed the record as “an intense, taut piece of work,” and Alternative Press called the group “masters of ass-kicking,” adding, “In a better America, Stone Sour would be the face of American rock.”  Stone Sour’s self-titled debut, also certified gold, spawned the band’s first breakthrough hit “Bother,” which was spotlighted on Spider-Man soundtrack.

Experience Stone Sour for yourself. Texas dates are as follows:

Fri 9/10            Dallas, TX                               Superpages.com Center

THE CHAP REMIXES UK PRIME MINISTER GORDON BROWN GAFFE FOR ELECTION DAY

10 May

Fresh off of the UK general elections, pan-European group The Chap has released a remix featuring none other than re-elected UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Brown’s recent gaffe, unwittingly recorded while calling a voter a “bigoted woman,” has been repurposed in the only way The Chap know how – by chopping it into a hook and throwing a beat under it. “Never a frown, with Gordon Brown” – available for streaming and download here – is undoubtedly as close as any leader of the Labour party will get to outright juking.

The Chap themselves summarize the track best:

“You know how whenever a very public figure messes up with the whole world watching/listening, someone immediately remixes the really poignant bits into a really annoying techno tune and puts it on youtube and then expects millions of hits and LOL comments? ‘ere it is! In a really annoying techno version! Just to clarify: In no way does this represent our support of David Cameron or indeed any political party. We just did it to attract attention to The Chap.”

Concert Alert: California natives Black Sunshine

7 May

In support of the May 25 release of their debut album Once in My Life, California natives Black Sunshine are hitting the road with Smile Empty Soul.

Stopping in Dallas on May 8 at the newly renovated Trees (Treesdallas.com), Texans will be treated to the passion, dedication and drive that fuel this band.

With a background in extreme sports, vocalist Matt Reardon spent a lot of time creating music following a horrific accident which nearly derailed his career in freeskiing.

Bringing Bob Marlette (Shinedown, Black Sabbath, Saliva) to the producer table, the band ended up with a polished sound that manages to stay raw and true to the bands original vision which according to Reardon, comes to life on stage.

“We do our own thing live,” Reardon said. “I’m not a fan of [recreating everything perfectly. A lot of bands run backing tracks, we don’t do that. Everything you hear is us playing on stage.”

Smile Empty Soul, Soil and Black Sunshine live at Trees in Dallas Saturday May 8. For more information on the band visit their web site http://www.blacksunshineband.com/

HASTE THE DAY announce US Headlining Tour in Support of New Album

6 May

April 29, 2010 - Metalcore mainstays HASTE THE DAY are excited to announce a summer U.S. headlining tour from June 4 to July 2 in support of their towering new album, Attack of the Wolf King, out June 29 on Solid State Records.

Joining the band on the month-long run are MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE and UPON A BURNING BODY. Dates and venues listed below.

Bassist Michael Murphy offers up this impassioned and convincing argument for why fans should get excited about the upcoming tour: “Come out to a show in your area and you are guaranteed a couple of things.  One- You will have a fantastic time watching me headbang.  This tour is the 9 year anniversary of me “going for it” on stage….Lets just say I’ve gotten pretty good. Two- You will hear all of your favorite old HTD songs. Three- You will hear a brand new HTD song that will blow your mind and make you forget we even have old songs.”

To that end, HASTE THE DAY have been offering a sneak peek of a track from Attack of the Wolf King in their live set – which some savvy fans have already found on YouTube. The band is encouraging fans to join in the Easter Egg hunt and tweet about their findings.

Adding even more madness to the mix, the band’s June 29th album release show in Bloomington, IN will feature all of the former members of HASTE THE DAY coming back to to play the old favorites. In addition to celebrating the release of Wolf King, the band will perform songs from their entire catalog, swapping out old and new members from HASTE THE DAY’s different eras.

With four acclaimed albums under their belts and more than a quarter-million in album sales, HASTE THE DAY are already among the metalcore elite. Cementing their status, the band return in full technicolor with their most dynamic, ferocious and art-minded album to date, Attack Of The Wolf King – an album that stirs up all of HTD’s trademark moves into new frenzied heights.
“I think that Attack Of The Wolf King has taken the musical elements of HASTE THE DAY – the breakdowns, the melodies, and the mood – and turned it up ten notches,” says Murphy. “Fans of the old HTD and the new HTD will be both be in love with this album. It has the raw aggression of Burning Bridges, the catchy choruses of When Everything Falls, the energy of Pressure The Hinges, and the mood and feeling of Dreamer. Get ready for your new favorite HASTE THE DAY album!”

Following the May headlining tour, HASTE THE DAY will join Warped Tour from June 20 through August 15.
Texas dates are as followed:
June 22  Houston, TX @ Warehouse
June 23  San Antonio, TX @ White Rabbit
June 24  Corpus Christi, TX @ House of Rock
June 25  Austin, TX @ Emos

MAPS & ATLASES ANNOUNCE HEADLINE SUMMER TOUR

6 May

Barsuk Records is excited to announce that Maps & Atlases will be headlining a national summer tour. The Chicago-based quartet will kick off the tour in their hometown on June 26th and bring it to a close mid-August in Newport, KY. After putting out two EPs on indie label Sargent House, Maps & Atlases will release their debut full-length record, Perch Patchwork, June 29, 2010 on Barsuk Records.  Filter says, “[Perch Patchwork] showcases the band’s songwriting chops with the intricate technical aspects of prog-art rock while keeping an accessible pop undertone.”

“Solid Ground,” the first single from the new album, has already been receiving accoldaes in the press.  NME named “Solid Ground” as one of the “10 Tracks You Have To Hear This Week,” while going on to say, “This Chicago four-piece weld the intricate quirks of Animal Collective with a backdrop of clomping wooden guiros and woozy synths, while mastering the vocal melancholy of TV On The Radio so majestically that singer [Dave Davison] sounds like a Tunde Adebimpe in the making.”

The band has also released a limited edition, three-track single that is only available at the shows on this tour.  The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Solid Ground
2. Living Decorations (Demo)
3. Israeli Caves (String and Vocal Mix)

Maps & Atlases are currently engaged in a pre-album release tour supporting Frightened Rabbit.  The Philadelphia Inquirer said of the band’s live show, “Maps & Atlases made virtuosity sound accessible. With swift and complex patterns of interlocked finger-tapped guitars and asymmetrical rhythms, the Chicago quartet displayed a startling level of technique and proficiency… definitely a new band to watch.”
