ATTENTION: Beware Pale People

2 Apr

Summer is peering around the corner and the tanning beds are calling your name. Not because they want you to bronze that pasty skin, but because come July, President Barack Obama and his health care reform will begin taxing you 10 percent to help offset the costs of your future melanoma.

The tax on tanning beds is set to replace the original 5 percent tax on cosmetic surgery, which would have generated double the revenue that the tanning tax is suggested to bring in. I am left wondering what is next?

If I were you, I would begin to stock-pile those tank tops, bikinis and shorts because sitting in the natural sun for 30 minutes is equivalent to sitting in a tanning bed for 10. After all, we have to fight to keep down the high cost of taking care of skin cancer. What is next? Will we all be forced to wear berkas to avoid the problem all together?

Why not charge a 10 percent income tax to the parents of the dead-beat children who are going to benefit from Obama’s health care reform? If your child is 26 and still relying on mom and dad to foot the bill, then you failed as a parent and there is something wrong with your child.

I have another suggestion, Obama, why not put a 10 percent tax on gym memberships, or are you afraid that your wife will force you to sleep on the oval office couch? Maybe it is just your agenda to affect a business that is predominately owned by hard-working middle-class women and utilized by pigment-challenged Americans.

The funny part about this is the revenue that is claimed will be made from taxing tanning salons. According to the plan, in over 10 years $2.7 billion will be generated. Way to be tricky with your play on words Obama. According to my math, the 30 million people tanning a year will generate around $600 million after being taxed for 10 years. Just how over 10 years do you mean? With every penny counted. Maybe you could have donated the $100,000 that was used to redecorate the White House.

The bottom line is that this health care reform is too expensive and gives way too much power to the government. This health care bill has nothing to do with health care at all. It is just a political way to get power and control the people. After all, didn’t John Dingell, Senior Democrat in the House of Representatives say, “It takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.”

Now, I do not know about you, but I do not want to be controlled. What is next for us? Will we all be shot to death in the fields when we oppose to our leaders’ opinions like with Pol Pot in Cambodia, or maybe just sent to Gulag prisons like Russia.

As a college student who cannot afford health care, the idea of being offered health care that I can afford is brilliant. We are being promised the world, and who does not want change? But this change, this reform is starting to look like a big scam. They are relying on people being asleep and not knowing what is going on.

This entire time Obama has banked on his promise to make sure children with preexisting health conditions will be covered in this tax reform. What sort of monster would not be on board to help make that happen? The problem is, they forgot to put it in the bill.

According to the Associated Press the letter of the law provided a less-than-complete guarantee that kids with health problems would not be shut out of coverage. And, that administration officials are now scrambling to fix a gap in the highly touted benefits that Obama promised.

So beware pale people, the government is coming to get you.
